A CATALOG FOR A LONG BLACK TOMORROW
Jaylen Strong Introducing Catalog For A Long Black Tomorrow.

ABOUT:

Jaylen Strong presents Playground Radio's Catalog For A Long Black Tomorrow. Every year at Playground Coffee Shop we organize an event to celebrate, uplift, and showcase Black artists and creatives in honor of Black History Month, but amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we opted to bring you all an accessible online virtual experience!

CFALBT has been curated with the thought that the artists involved work from what we believe is an archivist's mold. We believe the work they create is influenced by their Black cultural past, their intimate realities, and– what we also believe to be–a determination to maintain a legacy of a diverse, lively, and polylithic Blackness. Amid the fight against a white-supremacist society, they know, we know that Black legacy will extend far beyond our imaginations.

There will be a very long Black Tomorrow.

This event features performances from Caleb Giles, Starchild & The New Romantic, and Samuel Omare; two DJ sets from Cardamami and Travis Brown; and two interviews featuring Duneska Suannette of Guanábana and chef and farmer Sammi Gay. These sessions were all recorded and supported by Pirate at their Bushwick studio location by filmmaker Chad Murdock.

This event was also sponsored in part by Carhartt WIP and Oatly!

We present, Catalog For A Long Black Tomorrow. We hope you all enjoy it.
