As a culmination of jazz training and a deep love for music, 'By Proxy' is Travis' vehicle to share musical and emotional exploration within varying genres.

Aside from radio, Travis hosts a vinyl show on Twitch ("Travis Plays"), freelances on work varying from graphic design to event planning, and enjoys conversations amongst friends old and new.

Based in Brooklyn, New York, Lale is a Dominican-American kid raised between North Jersey and Santiago De los Caballeros.

Influenced by a range of genres; soul, D&B, breakbeat, floathouse, ukg revival, post disco and funk, among others, he's able to grapple with the seamlessness that might exist between these different sounds.
EDICA+

"DUB & EFFECTION" (D&E) is a radio show and online platform dedicated to Soundsystem Culture and Dub music, including its relative electronic subgenres (bass, grime, reggae, hip hop, ambient, downtempo, instrumental, remix, etc).

D&E also spotlights the art and profiles of creatives around the world whose work is influenced by the Caribbean's "heavyweight champion sound".

By educating listeners on the history of Dub and its deep roots in much of today's popular music, D&E is a "salute to the revolutionary foundation of modern sound."

D&E is hosted by its founder EDICA+, a Guyanese Brooklyn-based DJ, Sound Designer, Curator, and Dub Artist. In addition to her selections of eclectic global sounds, she goes far beyond as she takes her audience on trippy, otherworldly sonic journeys.

She was featured as a top 10 DJ to follow by ESSENCE Magazine and continuously evolves her artistry with new experimental audio+visual projects.

Her explorative sound trips are an experience to catch, as she dives deep into classic yet refreshing vibrations that simultaneously bump the body and massage the mind.

Burning World is a book club hosted by Corpus Family and Playground Annex. Our brains are weapons. Thought and discussion is action.

Our goal is to practice reading and discussion as a means of self-defense while we navigate and reimagine our burning world.
DINNER WITH US SERIES

Dinner With Us started in summer 2019 when Playground launched it as a community dinner series.

We introduced the initiative through a three course meal (made by materials and produce donated by local food organizations, farms and CSAs) while highlighting the detrimental food climate that exists in Bed-Stuy.

The access to healthy and sufficient food sources are limited in our community. Our intention is to start a conversation and introduce practices in food security and solution based thinking.

For this iteration we will shift our focus to see how we produce high levels of food waste when the people in our community are food insecure. Our mission is to provide insight about food waste at a consumer and community level.

Every year at Playground Coffee Shop we organize an event to celebrate, uplift, and showcase Black artists and creatives in honor of Black History Month, but amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we opted to bring you all an accessible online virtual experience!

Raver jinn is a graphic designer and DJ/producer based between the midwest and New York. They seek to translate properties of jinnhood — including oscillation between good/evil, embodied/illegible, and earthly/supernatural — through various mediums. Raver jinn's main sonic influences are hard house, goa trance, and midwestern techno, and they like to spin whatever can keep you bouncing. Brendan Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American DJ from Orange County, California and currently based in Brooklyn.

As a second generation immigrant raised by refugee parents, Brendan was always drawn to the diverse communities, food, and music that NYC had to offer and moved here in 2015 after spending some time in Atlanta.

Brendan's DJ alias, 99 ranch, is inspired by the good memories he has of visiting. Asian supermarkets and buying snacks as a kid with his mom.

She is interested in violence and survivorship. To create noise and experience it is a form of embodied knowledge for her.

Zain Alam is an artist and musician based in Bed-Stuy, New York City.

His recording project Humeysha has been described as "a unique intersection, merging the cinematic formality of Bollywood and geometric repetition of Islamic art."

His work has been covered by Vice, Village Voice, and the New York Times. He has recently completed fellowships with South Asian American Digital Archive, Wreck City, and Harvard University, and is currently at work on a new full-length.

He is the host of A Blowout Comb Dispatch (or ABCD for short), a monthly show on The Lot Radio that explores diasporic Black music in all its variations.

When he is not listening to music or making mixes, he moonlights as a doctoral student at NYU studying the history of Africa and the African diaspora.
